UNISON members at the University of Winchester are joining many other universities nationwide in taking industrial action. This decision has not been taken lightly, but in response to the employer’s decision to offer most university workers a 5% pay award. With inflation at over 13%, and the cost of living skyrocketing, this is a huge pay-cut.
In April 2023, UNISON consulted it’s members at the University of Winchester on whether this award should be accepted or whether action should be taken to fight for a better offer. Members voted resoundingly to fight for a better offer.
UNISON members have taken action from Tuesday 20th – Friday 23rd June, and are due to strike again between 28th-30th June and 26th-28th July.
