Standing up for pensioners rights – Petition concerning TV licences for the over-75

You will probably be aware that the BBC has announced that it will not be providing funding for free TV licences for the majority of pensioners over the age of seventy-five.

Your Committee believe this is shameful, and if you agree, we encourage you to sign the petition available here: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/234627

Currently over 75,000 people have signed and if that figure reaches 100,000 the government is obliged to consider holding a debate on the subject. Additionally, why not write to your elected representative, expressing your view. We believe that some parliamentary representatives and an element of the media are actively working to diminish pensioners’ rights.
