All members of Hampshire UNISON are warmly invited to attend our AGM on Wednesday 5 March, 6-8pm, at Winchester Guildhall. The meeting is an opportunity to hear how the branch has responded to the continuing challenges presented by the Government’s austerity agenda, and how we have supported our members over the last year. Come and find out how you can get involved in the branch, and help build the union in your workplace.
The branch is currently seeking nominations for a number of vacant officer posts, including Treasurer, H&S Officer and Disabled Members’ Officer (a full list of vacant posts is included in the agenda, below). These posts are an ideal way for members to take a more active role within their union, and full training and support will be given. If you would like to find out more about any of the roles please contact the branch office. The meeting will also elect branch delegates to UNISON’s national and local government conferences, which are open to all members – nominations from low paid, black, female, young, disabled and LGBT members will enable us to fairly reflect our membership in our delegation.
We are also delighted to have Sarah Lyall, Researcher in Social Policy at the New Economics Foundation as our guest speaker, who will talk about the economic alternatives to the never-ending austerity that the Government is pursuing.
Refreshments are available from 5.30pm. Members are entitled to claim for expenses incurred, such as travel or childcare. We look forward to welcoming you next Wednesday.
