HE Strike 3/12/13 – Hampshire UNISON members stand up for fair pay

Hampshire UNISON members at the University of Winchester took to the picket lines this morning with UCU colleagues for the second time in their ongoing dispute over pay. Taking strike action is never any easy decision for members, especially in the run-up to Christmas, but the 1% on offer from University employers is simply not good enough after 4 years of below-inflation pay deals. UK universities are sitting on a £2bn surplus while many HE staff experience real hardship – it’s time for employers stop playing Scrooge and put forward a better offer…
