All black and ethnic minority members are invited to join dedicated branch officer, Skip Bawa, at our first Black Members Meeting to be held on: Wednesday 4th December 2013, 6pm until 8pm, at The Queen Inn, 28 Kingsgate Road, Winchester SO23 9PG (parking available).
In October, Hampshire UNISON joined with other local organisations and community groups to celebrate Black History Month. Following on from this, your branch is inviting you to help form a self-organised group for black and ethnic minority members working within the Hampshire area.
UNISON knows that Black Member Groups play a key role in promoting social equality and in challenging racism wherever this is found. Consequently, our BM organisations work together within UNISON to win positive change in our workplaces. The more of us that are actively involved the stronger we are and the more we can achieve. You are at the forefront of UNISON organising work and we want to be certain that you feel assured of our support at a Local, Regional and National level.
Skip Bawa is your Hampshire Black Members Branch Officer. He is keen to meet up with you to network, hear your views and organise for equality. Skip personally has over 30 years experience of delivering public services here in Hampshire, is a long time UNISON member, and is also a very experienced representative and workplace steward.
